Starting this Monday, June 1st, the province of Huelva and the rest of the autonomous community officially enter the high-risk period for forest fires. The Infoca Plan will activate maximum restrictions, which will last until October 15th, an essential regulatory shield to protect the province's natural heritage during the most critical months of the year.
During this period, it is strictly forbidden to make fires, have barbecues, or carry out agricultural and forest burns in all natural spaces of the province and their surrounding areas. These limitations aim to minimize the risk of human origin, the factor behind the vast majority of incidents.
The Minister of Presidency, Interior, and Emergencies of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz, has issued an urgent call for citizen awareness for this campaign. Sanz emphatically reminded that "the best firebreak is responsibility," providing the striking statistic that 94% of forest fires are caused by human intervention.

The regional administration reminds the public that upon spotting any wisp of smoke or suspecting a fire, they must immediately alert the emergency services by calling the general number 112 Andalucía.
The restrictions come into effect after a series of fires at the end of May, including a serious incident on May 24th in the Rincón del Membrillo area of Doñana National Park, which affected approximately 500 hectares. Fires were also reported on May 29th in Moguer and on the median of the A-49 highway, in addition to another on May 27th in Lucena del Puerto.
From January 1st to May 22nd, the Infoca Plan has carried out 38 interventions in the province of Huelva, representing 27.53% of the total interventions in Andalucía.
