In a message shared on the social network ‘X’, Illa conveyed Catalonia's support to the President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, and stated that they are monitoring the situation's evolution.
The seismic event, with a magnitude of 5 and its epicenter in the town of Alhendín, was widely felt by the population during the early hours of Saturday. According to the National Geographic Institute (IGN), the earthquake occurred at 01:04 AM, with an initial depth of two kilometers later adjusted to ten, and coordinates of latitude 37.1147 and longitude -3.6618.

For her part, the Secretary General of the Andalusian PSOE, María Jesús Montero, urged citizens to exercise caution regarding the consequences of the earthquake and the numerous subsequent tremors. She emphasized the importance of prudence in light of the damage observed in buildings and streets.
