A seismic swarm has kept many residents of Granada on edge in recent hours after a magnitude 5 earthquake was registered in Alhendín early in the morning. The tremor was felt across a large part of the Andalusian geography. Since then, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) has recorded over forty tremors and hundreds of calls to emergency services reporting material damage.
The earthquake caught many people by surprise, some sleeping and others returning home, causing many to be unable to sleep for the entire night.
