The Junta de Andalucía has indicated that until architects deem the necessary safety conditions are met, the evacuated residents, including those relocated with family and friends, will not be able to return. The Minister of Housing, Youth, and Territorial Planning, Rocío Díaz, stated that they are "under the guidance of the technicians" and will await their "guarantees and certainties".
The evacuations were carried out preventively. The Government Delegation of Granada is working on damage assessment to prepare a package of aid and subsidies, as explained by Díaz.
Seismic activity has decreased in frequency and intensity in recent days. On Tuesday, six tremors occurred in the southern part of the capital and the Metropolitan Area, the strongest being magnitude 2. Despite this, the Junta maintains the pre-emergency phase of the Seismic Risk Plan for the province.
Eleven days have passed since the start of the seismic series, which has caused over 1,000 earthquakes, with nearly a hundred felt by the population. Last week, four magnitude 4 tremors shook the province within a few hours, causing material damage and preventive evacuations. Most recent tremors are magnitude 2, although a dozen above magnitude 3 at shallow depths have been recorded. The strongest earthquakes, magnitude 4.8, occurred on August 15th and 18th.
