The Almuñécar City Council, through its Councilor for Agriculture, Carlos Ferrón, announced the early start of the harvest at the experimental farm El Zahorí. Forecasts indicate a campaign characterized by lower production compared to previous years, following a season where trees also suffered the effects of storms.
Despite the expected reduction in volume, Ferrón highlighted the good condition of the farms and the recovery of the plants, allowing for an optimistic start, particularly due to the quality of the fruit. It is anticipated that the reduced supply will help maintain favorable prices for farmers.
According to initial sector estimates, the mango harvest could range between 12,000 and 15,000 tons. This figure contrasts with the approximately 36,000 tons from previous campaigns, although the final quantity will depend on the harvest's progress in the coming weeks. The first mangoes will soon begin their journey through marketing companies.
