This event, with over three decades of history and an audience of more than 6,000 spectators in its last edition, is positioned as a key platform for discovering new voices in contemporary cinema. Over the years, it has recognized prominent figures in Spanish cinema such as Natalia de Molina, Belén Funes, and Isaki Lacuesta, as well as the production company Los Ilusos, linked to Jonás Trueba.
Driven by the Granada City Council, the Granada Provincial Council, and Fundación Agua Granada, the festival invites filmmakers from around the world to submit short and medium-length films that explore new audiovisual forms, regardless of genre, format, or duration. Granada will once again become a meeting point for creators, the industry, and the public, fostering experimentation and exchange.
This year's program will include the International Competition, the 'Aguaespejo' Competition, and the 'Vibraciones' Competition, which will distribute over 5,000 euros in prizes. The International Competition accepts works made from January 2025, with a maximum duration of 60 minutes, and will award prizes such as the 'Val del Omar' for best film (1,000 euros) and the 'Ciudad de Granada' for best Spanish short film (900 euros).
The 'Aguaespejo' Competition, promoted by Fundación Agua Granada, will focus on the relationship between cinema, water, and the environment, offering the 'Agua Granada' Award of 1,000 euros. Meanwhile, the 'Vibraciones' Competition, in collaboration with Fundación SGAE and the Asociación Cultural Vibraciones, is dedicated to Andalusian short and medium-length films, with awards for best direction, screenplay, and original soundtrack, each endowed with 600 euros.
Additionally, the 'Film in Granada' office of the Provincial Council has launched the non-competitive category 'Pantalla Film in Granada', a space to showcase short films linked to the province. The registration period for all categories will remain open until July 31, 2026, and can be done through the platforms FilmFreeway, Shortfilmdepot, and Festhome.
