The Granada City Council has set up an assistance office in the Zaidín Civic Center to advise residents affected by the recent earthquake, offering a free service by appointment.

The Granada City Council has taken another step to bring municipal support closer to residents affected by the seismic event last Saturday. An assistance office has been established at the Zaidín Civic Center, one of the neighborhoods that has registered the most concern and demand for information.
This new service will operate from 09:00 to 13:00 hours, requiring an appointment that can be requested at the center itself or by calling 958130985 starting tomorrow, Tuesday.
The office has been coordinated with the Granada Bar Association to provide specialized advice and facilitate procedures arising from the earthquake's consequences. The City Council thanks the Association for its collaboration in offering a nearby and accessible service.
Mayor Marifrán Carazo highlighted that the service is "immediate and free," with members of the Granada Bar Association (ICAGR) advising residents and assisting with procedures. "We want Granadans to have their City Council close by," she stated, emphasizing that the location in Zaidín responds to the "requests for review and concern" conveyed by residents of the area.
This support point is in addition to the municipal operation active since the magnitude 5 earthquake registered on Saturday at 01:04 hours, with its epicenter near Alhendín. The tremor, felt in Granada and other parts of Andalusia, caused isolated material damage and non-structural defects, with no casualties or widespread serious structural damage.
From the outset, Firefighters, Local Police, Civil Protection, and specialized technicians have been working to address incidents. There have been 681 calls to the Local Police and 685 services requested via 112. Approximately 885 requests have been managed, and 206 inspections, clean-ups, and removal of unstable elements have been carried out, particularly in the southern area of Granada and the metropolitan area.
Municipal technicians, Civil Protection personnel, and technical architecture professionals are collaborating with Firefighters to assess buildings and prioritize actions, speeding up the response to the high volume of requests.
The mayor thanked the involvement of the Official College of Surveyors and Technical Architects of Granada and its president, María Paz García García, in the technical analysis of buildings.
Initial technical assessments convey a message of calm, indicating that most inspected buildings show adequate structural behavior. Detected damage primarily consists of cracks, fissures, and isolated detachments in non-structural elements. Special attention is being paid to traditional buildings with load-bearing walls.
The establishment of the office in Zaidín, one of the areas with the highest demand, will reinforce in-person support and assistance to families with their inquiries and procedures.
Carazo noted the city's "enormous response capacity," highlighting the work of Firefighters, Local Police, Civil Protection, and technicians in determining damages and necessary actions.
The City Council maintains the active operation, prioritizing inspections of properties with signs of structural impact and continuing to address pending requests to restore normalcy.
"We continue to work and will not let our guard down," concluded the mayor, assuring that inspections will be reinforced and all available resources will be placed at the service of Granadans.
