This competition invites individuals over 18 years old, of any nationality, to handwrite a letter addressed to the renowned Granadan poet. Submissions must be sent via certified mail to a post office box set up by Correos, whose number, 1898, subtly references Lorca's birth year, thereby reinforcing the intimate and personal nature of this literary endeavor.
“"This contest is born with the vocation of bringing the sensibility and relevance of Federico García Lorca closer to new generations, inviting citizens to engage with his legacy through emotion and the written word."
Letters will be accepted between May 1 and June 30, 2026. A prestigious jury from the cultural field will select the winning letter, with the decision to be announced in the last quarter of 2026. The winner will receive a cash prize of 3,500 euros, and their letter will be published by the Lorca Patronage, concluding the contest with an awards gala.
The initiative is supported by Correos, which will help disseminate the contest through an exhibition in its main offices across eight Spanish provincial capitals, thus bringing Lorca's figure closer to the public.
