“"Granada is once again placed on the European cultural map through a proposal that transcends the artistic and becomes an act of commitment to the values that define Europe. Music, especially that which originates from our heritage spaces, has the capacity to generate emotion, but also to invite reflection and dialogue between cultures."

The city of Granada, as the sole Spanish representative in the ECHO network, will host three concerts this Saturday featuring its historic organs, joining a European initiative for peace and cultural understanding.
This April 25th, Granada will integrate into the European initiative ECHO for Peace, an event that seeks to connect various cities across the continent through a symbolic gesture: playing their historic organs. The goal is to spread a common message of peace, understanding, and shared culture. The city's participation, promoted by the Granada City Council, strengthens its position in an international network that intertwines heritage, music, and European cooperation.
The program in Granada will span the entire day on Saturday with three concerts in locations of great historical and artistic value. The first will take place at 12:30 PM in the Church of Our Savior, in the Albaicín, offering a repertoire of Baroque music for organ and strings, including works by Bach, Bruhns, Vitali, and Vivaldi, performed by a group of young organists and instrumentalists.
In the afternoon, at 7:30 PM, the Monastery of San Jerónimo will host a concert focused on Renaissance choral polyphony, performed by the “Manuel de Falla” Choir of the University of Granada and the Polyphonic Choir of the Basilica of San Juan de Dios. The program will feature compositions by authors such as Aguilera de Heredia, Byrd, Morales, and Victoria. The day will conclude at 9:00 PM at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with a program for organ and strings centered on the 19th and 20th centuries, including works by Brahms, Franck, and Rheinberger.
The event will feature the participation of young musicians and organists from the conservatories of Granada and Málaga, reinforcing the commitment to emerging talent. With free admission until full capacity, the initiative invites citizens to join this day where music becomes a vehicle for unity, memory, and a shared future, projecting a message of European scope from the local level.
