The Granada Food Bank Foundation launched a new electric van this week, an initiative aimed at optimizing the daily collection and distribution of food across the province.

This acquisition was made possible through the collaboration of Fundación Caja Rural Granada and Covirán, who have supported the project to enhance the organization's operational capacity. The vehicle, 100% electric, offers a range of 300 kilometers, representing a significant step forward in the Foundation's environmental improvement and resource modernization strategy.
The official presentation of the new transport took place at the Foundation's non-perishable goods warehouse, a facility already equipped with a photovoltaic solar plant and electric chargers. The event was attended by Antonio León, president of Caja Rural Granada and its Foundation, and José Antonio Benito, president of Covirán, who highlighted the importance of the Food Bank's work in supporting vulnerable individuals in Granada.

"The collaboration between the three entities thus allows us to respond to a real operational need, improve distribution efficiency, and continue advancing towards a more sustainable, supportive, and useful model for Granada."

Both collaborating entities stated that this initiative “supports a tangible, useful action directly linked to the real needs of the environment,” reinforcing their commitment to the social development of the province. The new van will enable the Granada Food Bank to continue its mission of recovering food surpluses, distributing them equitably, and combating food waste.
