The National Geographic Institute (IGN), under the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, has recorded a total of three earthquakes on the southern slope of Granada's Vega. Two of these tremors occurred in Churriana de la Vega, and a third in Gójar.
Despite their low intensity, two of the tremors were felt by residents. The first was felt in Churriana de la Vega at 5:30 AM, with a magnitude of 1.6 degrees. The second, measuring 1.8 degrees, was registered in Gójar at 6:12 AM.
“"Next week is "vital" to determine if the seismic series in Granada has subsided."
These three events follow a magnitude 5.0 earthquake that occurred last Saturday morning, with its epicenter in the municipality of Alhendín. Since then, the Junta de Andalucía has maintained a pre-emergency phase due to seismic risk, a measure aimed at coordinating and enhancing available emergency resources.
