The team managed by José Rojo ‘Pacheta’ suffered its first setback of the summer on the first day of work at Montecastillo, where the team will remain in camp until Wednesday. The match served for the coach to observe the young players who aspire to be part of the first team.
The starting lineup featured numerous changes compared to the previous match against Almería. Only Jose Arnaiz repeated, accompanied in goal by Raúl Lizoain. The defense consisted of Pau Casadesús, Flores, Bourama, and Puma, while in midfield played Maza, Alemañ, and Gumbau. Owen and Chinaza completed the attacking front.
At the fifteen-minute mark, Pau Casadesús had to leave the field as a precaution due to a physical discomfort, being replaced by Sergio López, the only signing present in the squad who thus debuted with the red-and-white jersey.
After three matches without conceding goals, Ceuta took the lead on the half-hour mark with a goal from Omar Sadik from a set piece. A free-kick into the box was headed by the Ceuta attacker, who beat Raúl Lizoain.
Granada had few clear scoring opportunities during the match, both in the first and second halves, and failed to equalize, thus suffering their first pre-season defeat.
The next test for the team will be against Cádiz, another Second Division side. So far this summer, Granada has recorded three wins, one draw, and this defeat.
The training camp at Montecastillo, a usual venue for the team's preparation, will extend until Wednesday. During this period, players will train daily, often in double sessions, with the aim of building team cohesion, working on technical and tactical concepts, and preparing for the league start.
Forward Juan Diego Molina ‘Stoichkov’ is not participating in this training camp after terminating his contract on Friday to move to Malaysia. Goalkeeper Fran Árbol, on loan to Zamora in the Primera Federación, is also absent.
