Granada Boosts Works Plan with Don Bosco Avenue Renovation

The city of Granada is accelerating its Municipal Works Plan with several key projects, including the renovation of Don Bosco Avenue and other urban improvements.

The city of Granada has launched a series of important infrastructure projects, highlighting the remodeling of Don Bosco Avenue, which will transform one of the main thoroughfares in the Zaidín neighborhood over the next year.

The renovation of Don Bosco Avenue will be carried out in two phases. The first will cover the section between Andrés Segovia street and the area around Bolonia and Milán streets, with an investment of 2 million euros. The second phase will continue from that point to Cádiz Avenue, with a budget of 2.5 million. A third sector is still pending tender.
Although the current structure of the road will be maintained, the renovation will be comprehensive, affecting the sidewalks, which will be wider, the central boulevard, and the lighting. The project also includes the modernization of water supply and sanitation networks. According to the Granada City Council, these improvements will be made without the loss of parking spaces.
In addition to Don Bosco Avenue, the plan includes the renovation of the children's area in the Arabial roundabout, which will offer more play elements adapted to different abilities. The rehabilitation of the Cuarto de Santo Domingo wall will also be carried out. For the month of May, the creation of a new play area on Federico García Lorca Avenue is planned.
Other projects on the horizon include works on Ruiseñor street, the pedestrianization of the area around López Mezquita and a new children's area in the same vicinity, as well as interventions on Afán de Ribera and Doctor Martín Lagos streets. The creation of a park in Minarete Square and the beautification of the commercial axes of Reyes Católicos, Alhóndiga, and Puentezuelas are also foreseen.
Meanwhile, the city is already managing several ongoing works. In Realejo, works on Santiago, Somosierra, Comendadoras de Santiago, and Solares streets have caused phased traffic cuts that will extend for eight months. There are also interventions on Málaga Road and Andalucía Avenue, where a park is being built next to the BP roundabout.
The Urban Planning Department reported that the Carmen del Negro has reached 93% completion, the Casa de los Guardeses 85% (both part of the Alhambra Plan), and the Parque de las Familias and the works on Cervantes Avenue are close to 70%. The Floodable Park, for its part, is around 40% complete.
Adding to this map of interventions is the installation of 24 speed bumps on 16 city roads, which will be carried out in stages between April 20 and 27, causing temporary traffic cuts and detours.
