Last Monday, a 45-year-old man assaulted three people with an axe on Fuente y Prado street in Montefrío, being arrested shortly after. The aggression occurred around eleven in the morning, first affecting a man and then two women, one of whom was airlifted to the Neurotraumatology Hospital of Granada.
As part of this security operation, another 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday night for resisting and disobeying officers, as reported by the Armed Institute. The investigation remains open, and so far, no conclusive motive for the initial attack has been determined.
“"The aggression occurred without a word being exchanged."
The mayor of Montefrío, Remedios Gámez, stated that the aggressor does not appear to be registered in the town, and residents cannot explain what motivated the incident. The alleged assailant was located and arrested around noon in a rural area near the town.
To prevent any disturbance of public order and ensure an immediate response to potential violent behavior, police presence has been reinforced with citizen security units and the Reserve and Security Group (GRS). The detainee is expected to appear before a judge this Tuesday.
