The Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union in Granada has formally requested the City Council implement a summer intensive workday for the ORA zone control staff, citing the risk of heatstroke.

The Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union in Granada formally requested this Wednesday from the capital's City Council the inclusion of a summer intensive workday as an "obligatory" structural condition in the new tender documents for the future regulated parking control service, the ORA zone.
As the union warns, the staff's afternoon schedule, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, coincides in summer with the hottest hours of the day. The current concessionaire company, EYSA, has conducted a specific risk assessment for thermal stress, highlighting "the existence of a certain and severe danger for people working on public roads at those hours," which the group identifies as "a situation of precariousness and vulnerability requiring immediate preventive and institutional intervention."
As a preventive measure, CCOO has sent a letter to the City Council proposing a summer schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, to be applied from June 14 to September 15. Furthermore, they have requested that this measure be included as a mandatory structural condition in the new tender documents for the regulated parking control service (ORA).
The union has also warned that the danger of suffering exhaustion or heatstroke poses a serious threat to the staff's health, making it "unacceptable that the new tender conditions do not guarantee their protection in advance." Therefore, CCOO of Granada has demanded that the City Council assume its legal responsibility in occupational health matters and has affirmed that it will closely monitor that the tender prioritizes the well-being of this staff.
