The CCOO union has submitted a formal request to the Granada City Council to establish the summer intensive workday as a mandatory structural condition in the upcoming tenders for the regulated parking control service (ORA).
The union has warned about the extreme high temperature alert levels that the staff recurrently endure in public spaces, describing the situation as "precarious and vulnerable" and requiring immediate institutional intervention.
According to a thermal stress assessment conducted by the current concessionaire company, there is a "certain and severe risk" for these workers, as the peak heat hours coincide with the service's current afternoon schedule (5:00 PM to 9:00 PM).
In response to this issue, CCOO has sent a letter to the council requesting a summer schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, applicable from June 14th to September 15th.
The union reminds that this measure is included in the Prevention of Occupational Risks Law and warns that the danger of suffering heat exhaustion or heatstroke poses a serious threat to staff health, making it unacceptable for the new tender not to guarantee their protection beforehand.
