The National Police has apprehended a 43-year-old individual in Granada, identified as the alleged perpetrator of a theft offense. He is accused of appropriating material from the electrical supply company he worked for over several months, subsequently reselling it without it being recorded in official billing.
The investigation began following a complaint filed by the company's 47-year-old manager. Inquiries confirmed that the employee not only resold the stolen material but also stored a significant portion of the stock in a personal storage unit. After giving a statement, the detainee has been released, pending appearance before judicial authorities, as reported by the police force in a press release.
The manager's suspicions arose approximately six months ago when he consistently noticed a financial discrepancy between the company's revenues and expenses. He observed an unjustified increase in the acquisition of material that was not properly inventoried.
In response, the manager implemented a thorough control of orders, warehouse inventory, billing, and budgets. This allowed him to confirm that the sole employee responsible for the warehouse and customer service was allegedly appropriating material. He even received complaints from customers about products whose sales he was unaware of through legal channels.
To avoid detection, the employee allegedly manipulated inventory records to conceal the thefts and obtain direct financial gain. The manager also discovered that his employee owned a personal storage unit in the town of Ogíjares, where he kept a large quantity of electrical supply material belonging to the company.
The complaint and subsequent investigations by the National Police Investigation Group corroborated the manager's statements, demonstrating that the financial benefit obtained by the employee would exceed 30,000 euros.
