The Provincial Council of Granada has established an Advanced Command Post (PMA) in the town of Ogíjares to centralize the coordination of firefighter operations addressing damage caused by recent seismic activity. This Wednesday alone, over a hundred interventions are scheduled in this metropolitan municipality.
The president of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francisco Rodríguez, visited the PMA and various affected locations to oversee recovery efforts and ensure public safety. Firefighters from the Council are collaborating closely with municipal technicians, focusing on the removal and securing of hazardous elements on building facades, such as cornices, chimneys, and railings, while municipal technicians assess interior damage and structural integrity.
The operation includes resources like two aerial ladder trucks for accessing elevated areas. Rodríguez emphasized the deployment of all available resources and expressed gratitude for the intense effort and professionalism shown by firefighters and other mobilized personnel since the earthquakes began.
Furthermore, Rodríguez visited the 77 residents from the institution's Social Centers who were preemptively evacuated. They were reassured and assured of continued support and care. Concurrently, the Council is fast-tracking emergency procedures for necessary repairs at the Reina Sofía Psychopedagogical Center, one of the facilities affected by the tremors.
The president concluded by stating that the Council is acting on all fronts, supporting municipalities and caring for those directly dependent on the institution, with the aim of restoring normalcy as soon as possible.
