The incident, described as both endearing and unusual, took place on one of the main thoroughfares of Almonte beach, a point where the nature of Doñana and human activity converge. A mother duck and her line of ducklings entered the road, unaware of the danger that traffic posed to their safety and to that of drivers.
Faced with this situation, Almonte Local Police officers acted quickly to prevent any accidents or loss of local biodiversity. They proceeded to stop traffic preventively, becoming impromptu guides for the bird family.
“"Your patience has saved lives today."
The officers escorted the ducks until they reached a safe area, away from the danger of vehicles and back to their natural habitat. The Local Police headquarters highlighted the exemplary attitude of road users, who showed understanding and civility, respectfully observing the animals' passage instead of becoming impatient with the delay.
