The event, known as the M.E.C. Flamenco Festival (Market, Showcases, and Street), was presented by local authorities and the director of the Andalusian Flamenco Institute, who highlighted the consolidation of this cultural event. The initiative aims to bring flamenco art closer to diverse audiences and venues within the municipality.
Performances will be held in various locations across Lepe, including its streets, the pilgrimage grounds of El Terrón, and La Antilla beach, offering a blend of music, dance, and singing during the Huelva summer. The festival will commence on Wednesday, July 8, with a performance by the dancer Juan Tomás de la Molía.
The program will continue with the Andalusian Circuit of Young Flamenco Artists Gala, organized in collaboration with the Andalusian Flamenco Institute. Friday, July 10, will feature the dancer María Moreno, while Saturday, July 11, will see performances by Alejandro Rodríguez and artists Antonio and Mara Rey.
The festival will conclude on Sunday, July 12, with the highly anticipated performance by the Huelva-born singer Arcángel, one of the most renowned voices in contemporary flamenco and a frequent ambassador for Huelva's culture.
“"The festival has consolidated itself as one of the most important in Andalusia, in addition to highlighting the space reserved for emerging young flamenco artists."
The Lepe City Council, organizer of the event, has emphasized its commitment to a festival that not only brings flamenco closer to the public but also serves as a key tourist attraction for the summer season. The event is supported by the Junta de Andalucía and the Huelva Provincial Council.
