The arrest of a fugitive in Sanlúcar de Barrameda has brought peace of mind to taxi professionals in the region. This individual, who had been evading authorities for half a decade, was finally apprehended by the National Police, removing a constant threat to public safety.
The arrested person had breached their sentence four years ago by not returning to prison after a temporary release. Since then, they maintained an itinerant existence across various towns in the province of Cádiz. Their return to Sanlúcar, where they mistakenly believed they had eluded the agents, marked the beginning of a new wave of criminal activity.
“"He brandished a large knife to steal the earnings from the driver, whom he threatened with death."
Last week, the delinquent brutally assaulted a taxi driver, threatening him with a large knife to steal his earnings and slashing a tire of the vehicle to ensure his escape. This incident caused great alarm in the sector.
The Local Judicial Police Brigade managed to identify the suspect thanks to clues left on their social media, leading to their precise location and a decisive intervention. The capture was not easy, as the individual displayed “high aggression” while attempting to violently resist the officers.
With three outstanding arrest warrants and two pending prison admissions, the magistrate of the Court of First Instance number one of Sanlúcar has ordered their immediate imprisonment, thus closing a period of insecurity that affected coexistence in neighboring municipalities.
