The Regional Government of Andalusia has initiated repair works on the breakwater at the Port of Bonanza, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with an investment of three million euros. These actions respond to historical demands from the City Council and the Fishermen's Guild.
During the visit, Mayor Carmen Álvarez took the opportunity to convey to Minister Mario Muñoz-Atanet the demand for port expansion, a project for which an investment of eight million euros has been announced. Álvarez highlighted Bonanza's importance as the second most significant port in Andalusia and urged the regional government to address the needs of the local fishing sector.
The delegation, which also included other authorities and the head of the Fishermen's Guild, Antonio Romero, received technical explanations of the works from the Director General of the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia (APPA), Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio. The breakwater repair works are expected to be completed in 18 months, divided into execution periods and coordination with fishing activities.
Carmen Álvarez congratulated the Fishermen's Guild for achieving this improvement in the port facilities, while reiterating the urgency of also addressing the port's expansion, a historical demand from Sanlúcar's fishing sector with the support of the City Council.
