The mayor of Chipiona, Luis Mario Aparcero, has announced the commencement of works for the renovation of the municipal public lighting. The initiative involves replacing existing luminaires with LED technology, backed by an investment exceeding 800,000 euros from the City Council's own funds. This project will facilitate the complete conversion of public lighting to this efficient system.
As explained by Aparcero, the project covers more than 200 streets in Chipiona, which will lead to the renewal of over half of the town's luminaires. This action is expected to significantly reduce energy costs and enhance the municipality's lighting efficiency.
The mayor highlighted that this intervention will result in energy savings of approximately 50% of the current cost and will contribute to advancing towards a more modern and sustainable municipal model.
Aparcero noted that the work focuses on replacing installations that had not been updated for many years and indicated that the works are scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
The mayor also recalled the numerous improvement actions already carried out in various areas of Chipiona, to which this comprehensive renovation of public lighting is now being added.
