The Local Police of Chipiona, through its Road Safety department, has informed citizens about new traffic rules that came into effect on October 1st. These regulations impact the use of personal mobility vehicles, such as electric scooters, as well as bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles.
Driven by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), the new measures aim to reinforce road safety and foster a safer coexistence among drivers, pedestrians, and users of various mobility means, as reported by the Local Police.
Key changes include the mandatory use of helmets for electric scooter riders and other personal mobility vehicle users. These vehicles are prohibited from using sidewalks or pedestrian areas, and the minimum age for operating them has been set at 15 years.
The new regulation, as explained by the Local Police, also introduces modifications for motorcycle and moped users, who must wear closed-toe footwear while riding. Cyclists and Personal Mobility Vehicle users are required to wear reflective clothing or luminous elements when riding at night or in conditions of reduced visibility.
Helmet use will continue to be mandatory for cyclists under the age of 16 and for those engaged in professional activities.
The Local Police of Chipiona emphasizes that these measures are intended to reduce accidents and ensure safer, more orderly traffic on public roads. The municipal force urges all road users to act responsibly and recommends familiarizing themselves with and complying with the new provisions.
