The Chipiona City Council recently hosted an extraordinary session of the Local Agrarian Council. The main objective was to coordinate the action plan for the coming months, evaluate agricultural management, and address proposals to improve rural infrastructure, as well as the safety and health of farmers.
One of the key points was the AGROCHIPIONA 27 fair, scheduled from March 12 to 14, 2027. It was announced that this year's event will feature the collaboration of the College of Agricultural Technical Engineers to boost the sector's event, particularly in organizing technical sessions, commercial presentations, and attracting exhibitors.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Laura Román, detailed the latest actions in the rural sector, including the mobilization of resources and subsidies. Projected investments in rural roads were presented, such as maintenance through pothole repair for 24,097.02 euros annually for 300 square meters. The completion of rainwater drainage works on the Los Rizos road was also reported, along with upcoming projects for asphalting the La Alcubilla, Las Manchuelas, and Meca roads, financed by the Plan Cádiz + Inversión. Additionally, a subsidy of 227,603.63 euros from the Plan Cádiz Marcha was approved for interventions on the Vagón, De Chipiona al Puerto de Santa María roads, and the resurfacing of El Ahorcado. A new municipal tractor was acquired thanks to a Provincial Council subsidy of 68,970 euros.
The extraordinary council meeting also served to channel four demands registered through councilor José Carrera Castro. A formal request was made for technical appearances and urgent reports from the Water Users Community, Aqualia, and the City Council to clarify the stalled transfer of treated wastewater to agricultural holdings, despite the works being physically completed. A request was made for a convention with the Public Health Department for a deratization campaign to address the rodent plague causing crop losses and damage to irrigation systems.
It was announced that the petition for the adaptation and widening of the section of the old CA-604, at the exit to the A-491, due to high traffic of trailers, heavy machinery, and school buses, will be submitted to the Territorial Delegation of Public Works. Municipalization as an extension of the El Ahorcado road was considered if the request is not met. Finally, a proposal was presented for ditch cleaning using PFEA funds for the years 2027, 2028, and 2029.
