The incidents occurred on the A-7, within the municipal area of Motril. The first vehicle was recorded on April 8 at 197 km/h, while the second was caught on April 9 at 190 km/h, both in a section with a speed limit of 100 km/h.
Following the identification of the individuals, officers from the Traffic Civil Guard determined that these actions could constitute a crime against road safety. The offense is considered serious as it exceeded the speed limit by more than 80 km/h on an interurban road.
“"This type of anomalous behavior carried out by drivers who not only disregard current Traffic and Road Safety regulations but also show a total disregard for their own lives and the lives of others, can lead to penalties of up to six months in prison and disqualification from driving for up to four years."
The Civil Guard has reiterated the importance of respecting speed limits, emphasizing that excessive speed is one of the main causes of road accidents. Driving at such high speeds makes it virtually impossible to control the vehicle in the face of imminent danger, which can lead to very serious and irreversible consequences.
