The city of Motril will mobilize on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in the Plaza de España to show its support for Ceuta. The Motril council thus joins the rally called by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) following the incidents of July 30 and 31.
This act of solidarity aims to give voice and visibility to the severe migratory crisis facing the autonomous city due to the massive influx of migrants in July, and to demand a firm and decisive solution. The rally also coincides with the celebration of Ceuta Day.
“"To show all Ceutans that they are not alone, and that the people of Motril want to demonstrate their support and solidarity in the urgent need for authorities to offer a solution to a situation that directly affects the integrity of Ceuta and all of Spanish territory."
The Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, emphasized the importance of this rally in conveying the support of Motril's citizens. The City Council thus reaffirms its commitment to the people of Ceuta, joining similar rallies called by the president of the FEMP, María José García-Pelayo, on August 25.
The councilor invited all residents of Motril to join this day of solidarity, commitment, and responsibility with Ceuta and its people, stating that "on September 2, Motril will rally to make it clear that Ceuta is not alone."
