The Almuñécar Aquarium was transformed this past weekend into a unique nighttime camp for about fifty children from the 18th Mr. C Summer School. The youngsters had the opportunity to sleep surrounded by marine species, including sharks and rays, in an experience that aimed to merge fun with environmental education.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Almuñécar City Council, allowed participants to enjoy a different kind of night in one of the most singular tourist spots on the Costa Tropical. The activity took place under the supervision of school monitors and aquarium staff, ensuring everyone's safety.
Carlos Ferrón, Councilor for Parks and Gardens, explained that the idea arose from a proposal by Francisco, the head of the Mr. C Summer School. The objective was to offer a novel activity where the children could learn about the marine world and coexist with impressive species.
The Almuñécar Aquarium aims to become a center for new experiences. The City Council has indicated that this collaboration could lead to a broader program, including yoga sessions with the Youth Area and, after the summer, dinners and wine tastings within the facilities.
The aquarium, located under Plaza Kuwait on Avenida de Europa, houses around 1,500 animals of over a hundred species in twenty aquariums. Its main attraction is the large one-million-liter oceanarium, featuring a 17-meter panoramic tunnel that offers a unique perspective of sharks, rays, and other Mediterranean species.
Through initiatives like this, the aquarium reinforces its commitment to offering differentiated experiences to both residents and visitors, consolidating itself as an original leisure and educational space in the province of Granada.
