The speeding violation was detected on May 18 by agents of the Traffic Detachment of Motril, part of the Traffic Sub-sector of the Civil Guard of Granada, during an operational speed control on the aforementioned road.
The driver is accused of the alleged commission of a road safety offense for exceeding the permitted speed by more than 80 km/h. This conduct can lead to prison sentences of three to six months, a fine of six to twelve months, or community service for 31 to 90 days, in addition to the revocation of the driving license for a period of one to four years.
The proceedings have been forwarded to the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance in Motril.
The Civil Guard reiterates the importance of respecting speed limits to ensure road safety, noting that inappropriate speed not only increases the risk of accidents but also the severity of their consequences.
Furthermore, the institution emphasizes the need to always adjust speed to the conditions of the road, traffic, and weather; exercise extreme caution in urban areas and thoroughfares where vehicles and pedestrians coexist; respect signage and established limits; and maintain responsible and attentive driving at all times.
