The municipality of Almuñécar has been the epicenter of university tradition and music during the I International Tuna Contest City of Almuñécar, an event that brought together more than 200 tunos and their companions.

The streets of Almuñécar were filled with a festive and musical atmosphere this weekend with the celebration of the I International Tuna Contest City of Almuñécar. This event, organized within the framework of the 40th anniversary of the Tuna de Ciencias of the University of Granada together with the City Council, through the departments of Culture and Tourism, and the University of Granada, attracted more than 200 tunos from five groups.
Since last Friday, the town center was revolutionized with the arrival of the participants, who for two days filled every corner of the municipality with songs, pasodobles, flags, and tambourines. The contest not only surprised new spectators but also delighted lovers of the tunante tradition, who praised both the musical level and the heritage environment of Almuñécar.
The event had a significant tourist impact, as the tunos were accompanied by family and friends, which contributed to projecting the image of the municipality as a destination for major cultural and musical gatherings. Friday afternoon was particularly lively, with a massive parade through the city center that attracted hundreds of residents and visitors, who accompanied the groups as they performed songs in shops, terraces, and restaurants.
Later, the Plaza de la Constitución was the setting for the round contest under the City Council balcony, where representatives of the organization and the Sexitano Consistory followed the performances that gathered a large audience, transforming the historic center into an authentic open-air musical stage.
On Saturday night, El Majuelo Park hosted the main contest, with the participation of the Female Tuna of Health Sciences of Málaga, the Tuniña of Eindhoven, the Tuna de Peritos of Algeciras, and the Tuna de Ingenieros Agrónomos of Orihuela. The Tuna de Ciencias of the University of Granada, as host, offered a special performance together with the Municipal Music Band of Almuñécar. The evening, which blended music, humor, and tradition, had a charitable nature, with ticket proceeds going to the Afavida association.

"Almuñécar is music, culture, and coexistence."
