The municipality of Mijas is preparing to honor the International Day of Older Persons through a series of activities designed for this demographic. The Councillor for Seniors, Silvia Marín, announced that the celebrations will take place in the three active participation centers and the senior center within the municipality on October 5, 6, and 7.
This initiative aims to pay tribute to older adults, highlight their importance, and promote active and healthy aging through interaction and fun. This year's program is characterized by its dynamic and inclusive nature.
The activities will include participatory scavenger hunts and a game fair, designed for the enjoyment and social interaction of the users. On October 5, activities will be held at the Active Participation Center; on October 6, at the center in Mijas Pueblo; and on October 7, at the Senior Center in La Cala. All events will start at 5:30 PM and will be free of charge.
Furthermore, the Department of Seniors has organized dances at each location, running from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, to transform these days into a true celebration, as commented by Marín.
In addition to fostering social connection, the activities aim to prevent loneliness, dependency, and the loss of emotional bonds. "We seek to provide a higher quality of life for our seniors, as they are a priority for this government team. We invite all our residents to join these days to celebrate this special date together," concluded Silvia Marín.
