The city of Cádiz will host Heart Week 2026, centered on cardiovascular prevention and organized by the association Trébol de Corazones. The event, coinciding with World Heart Day, will feature the participation of INIBICA, who will present the international research project Proyecto Persuade, focused on the study of atrial fibrillation.
Under the slogan ‘Move for your heart’, the program is structured around three fundamental pillars: prevent, learn, and act against cardiovascular diseases. The activities will be spread over three days. The first two will take place at the former Tobacco Warehouses of Cádiz, with free access, and the last will be held at the IES Fernando Aguilar, aimed at its second-year Secondary Education students.
September 30th will be dedicated to the prevention of cardiovascular risk, with presentations on emerging risk factors, nutrition, and prevention from the environment. October 1st will focus on atrial fibrillation, with the presentation of Proyecto Persuade by INIBICA. Finally, on October 2nd, World Heart Day, an educational session for Secondary Education students will be held with talks, workshops, and training in first aid and heart-healthy habits.
INIBICA will explain the objectives of Proyecto Persuade, highlighting the importance of understanding the factors associated with atrial fibrillation, a common arrhythmia that increases the risk of cardiovascular complications. The initiative aims to convey the advances in biomedical research to the public in an accessible language.
Cardiovascular diseases pose a significant public health challenge. Promoting healthy habits, controlling risk factors such as hypertension, cholesterol, smoking, diet, and sedentary lifestyle, as well as early identification of symptoms, are crucial for their prevention. Initiatives like this Heart Week contribute to raising awareness and fostering an informed citizenry about cardiovascular health care.
