The public tender will select the project that establishes a teaching center affiliated with a university within the Andalusian university system. The concession will have an initial duration of 20 years, extendable for another ten, and sets a minimum annual fee of 90,822.36 euros.
The awarded entity must annually allocate at least 30,000 euros to scholarships for students registered in Torremolinos, thereby facilitating their access to higher education.
The mayor, Margarita del Cid, highlighted that this initiative seeks to recover a municipal building that was not effectively used, transforming it into a space for knowledge and opportunities, attracting students, talent, and investment to the city.
The initiative, originating from EUSES Málaga of the Metrodora educational group, will be awarded through an open tender. The building, spanning 4,000 square meters, will remain municipal property, with the concessionaire assuming all investment for its adaptation and equipping.
Adjudication criteria will evaluate the proposed university degrees (up to 40 points), the offered fee (up to 40 points), and the contribution to scholarships for local students (20 points).
This strategic project aims to diversify the municipality's activities, reduce seasonality, and strengthen Torremolinos' position as a city linked to knowledge, innovation, and higher education.
