The Mijas City Council has finalized the award of the contract for the maintenance of green areas and cleaning of the municipality's Gran Parque. The Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) formed by Inditec and Ituval will be responsible for these tasks for an amount of 1.95 million euros per year, with a duration of three years.
This agreement is in addition to two other contracts previously awarded within the global project of the Gran Parque, a 270,000 square meter green infrastructure located in Las Lagunas and recognized as the largest in Andalusia. In March, the contract for the conservation and maintenance of facilities and equipment was formalized with Clece FS for 1.3 million euros, and in October 2025, the security, opening, and closing of the premises were awarded to Clece Seguridad for 1.17 million.
Improvements included in the new contract involve the installation of 6,000 square meters of awnings in squares, children's areas, and areas with health equipment, as well as the incorporation of a dozen accessible and adapted public restrooms.
The park, which hosts over 2,900 trees and approximately 20,000 plants, also features sports courts, five children's play areas, a skate park, a water park, a dog park, an amphitheater with a capacity for 1,500 people, and a navigable lake.
From an environmental perspective, the project has achieved a significant reduction in water consumption, decreasing from 1,350 cubic meters per month to around 350, representing a 74% saving and positioning the park as a benchmark in sustainable gardening.
The maintenance work must now ensure the conservation of this ecological balance and the health of the plant mass, ensuring the space continues to be a hub for social gathering and leisure for the municipality.
