The Mijas Municipal Plenary Session gave the green light this Wednesday to the Ordinance governing the reception of historic urbanizations in the municipality. This document's main objective is to guarantee equal services for residents of the 96 affected residential areas.
The proposal was approved after resolving the presented allegations, with favorable votes from the PP, Vox, and PMP, while the PSOE and C´s voted against. The council emphasizes that this validation lays the groundwork for "effective equality" for all Mijas residents.
The new ordinance will clarify fundamental aspects such as the conservation and maintenance of roads, sanitation and water supply networks, public lighting, and green areas. Approximately 87% of Mijas's urban land is located in urbanizations, and the previous lack of legal clarity had created inequalities, as residents paid taxes without receiving services equivalent to those in urban centers.
The ordinance is based on regional legislation, specifically the Law for the Promotion of Territorial Sustainability of Andalusia (LISTA), and its processing included a public consultation and initial approval in March, followed by the resolution of allegations in the August plenary session.

Additionally, the Plenary unanimously approved recognition for about forty agents of the Mijas Local Police and one citizen for outstanding actions, including interventions in public health crimes, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, apprehension of fleeing vehicles, and humanitarian aid.
