Mijas has now finalized the details for its 2026 Fair, which will take place from September 7 to 12. The event will feature a diverse program including concerts by artists such as Camela, Medina Azahara, Marta Quintero, and Alba Dreid, in addition to the traditional Day Fair, children's activities, and religious ceremonies in honor of the Virgen de la Peña, the town's patron saint.
The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, presented the program and the official poster. The prelude to the festivities will begin on Sunday, September 6, with the opening speech delivered by Mijas journalist Mari Carmen Jaime at 9:00 PM in the Miguel González Berral auditorium in Mijas Pueblo. Mata emphasized the goal of "offering a varied and quality program that combines our traditions with current proposals."
The official opening day, Monday, September 7, will kick off at 7:00 PM with the traditional parade of giants and big-heads. In the evening, around 10:00 PM, the lighting ceremony and inauguration of the fairgrounds will take place, followed by the election of the fair's queen, king, and ladies-in-waiting.
Tuesday, September 8, the day of the Virgen de la Peña, will focus on religious events. At 11:30 AM, there will be a ringing of bells and a mass at the church of the Inmaculada Concepción. At 1:30 PM, the Day Fair will open in La Muralla, and in the evening, at 9:00 PM, the procession of the Virgin will take place.
Wednesday, September 9, will be dedicated to children with activities and the draw for the infant king and queen. That night, at 11:00 PM, Camela will perform with free entry.
Thursday, September 10, will continue with the Day Fair, and at midnight (12:00 AM), the municipal booth will host the concert by Medina Azahara.
Friday, September 11, will feature the Senior Tribute Dinner at 10:30 PM, with the draw for the Fair's Grandfather and Grandmother. Later, at 11:30 PM, Marta Quintero will perform.
The final day, Saturday, September 12, will include a bicycle ride, the Day Fair, simulated bull runs, and a horse parade. The night will conclude with the Youth Night at the municipal booth, featuring DJ Michael Stiven, DJ Cohelo, and Alba Dreid.
