Marbella City Council is in the final stages of its selection process to incorporate eleven new personnel into the Fire Department. These new agents will join the 54 hires made in recent years, aiming to enhance safety within the city.
More than 40 candidates have successfully passed the various stages of the process and continue to compete for the 11 announced positions. Those who secure a place are expected to be in training academy and practical work before the year concludes.
Upcoming evaluations will include demanding physical tests, such as a stair climbing test in a tower, simulating the ascent with heavy equipment in buildings, and a swimming exam, crucial for a coastal city like Marbella and for the service's underwater unit.
Subsequently, candidates must pass a psychometric test and a medical examination. The delegate for Citizen Security, José Eduardo Díaz, highlighted the complexity and length of the procedure, initiated with the goal of filling what are considered very necessary positions.
Díaz emphasized the importance of equipping the fire department, comprised of "first-division" professionals, with the best material and human capital. The City Council also plans to launch a new call for applications in 2027 to cover retirements anticipated for 2026 and early the following year.
