The incident took place in the hamlet of Zalea, within the municipality of Pizarra, where the accused sustained two bullet wounds. Following the shooting, he was urgently transported to the Hospital Clínico de Málaga for medical treatment.
According to information from the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia, the trial, which had already been postponed once due to the affected individual's visit to the emergency room, had to be suspended again. The assault, confirmed as a shooting on Monday night, was the decisive factor in postponing the hearing for at least six months.
Emergency services from 112 Andalucía received the alert about the shooting. Officers from the Guardia Civil, Local Police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, where they attended to the injured man before his evacuation to the hospital.
The suspended judicial process is linked to a fatal shooting that occurred in Marbella in 2019. In this case, a popular jury was scheduled to try three individuals, whom the Malaga Prosecutor's Office accuses of causing the death of one person and attempting to murder another, who was seriously injured. The Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking sentences of 37 years in prison for each of the accused.
The prosecution alleges that, after the initial attack, a second accused shot the other victim with a revolver three times, hitting him in the shoulder, leg, and abdomen. These injuries required a long recovery period of 336 days and treatments at various hospitals.
The third person allegedly involved, according to the prosecutor, had met with the other accused to plan the murders and also had meetings with the victims. Furthermore, he met with the other two defendants immediately after the shooting.
The Prosecutor's Office charges the three defendants with two counts of murder (one in attempted form) and membership in a criminal group with possession of weapons. Two of them are also charged with illegal possession of weapons, as none had a license.
