KOI restaurant, a leading Asian cuisine destination in Marbella, will present an unusual culinary experience tomorrow: a tuna 'ronqueo'. This traditional Japanese demonstration involves the expert dissection of a celebrated bluefin tuna, ensuring none of the world's most expensive fish goes to waste.
The event, rarely seen on the Costa del Sol, will be followed by an 'Omakase Experience'. This popular Japanese tasting menu allows chefs to showcase the finest available ingredients of the day through a curated sequence of dishes. The bluefin tuna will be sourced from the nearby Costa de la Luz area in Cádiz.
The Omakase menu, meaning 'I'll leave it up to you', is designed to highlight a variety of premium tuna cuts, seasonal ingredients, and Japanese techniques, offering flavours not typically found on the restaurant's regular menu.
The vast majority of bluefin tuna caught in the almadrabas of Cádiz are exported directly to Japan. Recently, a bluefin tuna fetched a record 510 million yen (€2.75 million) at Tokyo's fish market.
With strictly limited places to ensure an intimate atmosphere, the event costs €95 per person. Bookings can be made via the group's website.
