The town hall building in Mijas Pueblo, along with the deputy mayor's offices in La Cala and Las Lagunas, will host these gatherings. The mayor, Ana Mata, announced these events, aimed at conveying institutional and municipal backing to the autonomous city, which has been facing a critical situation for over a month.
The mayor has called on all residents of Mijas to express their support for the people of Ceuta, defending Spain's territorial integrity, as well as security, coexistence, and dignity in the autonomous city. "Ceuta is not alone, and Mijas will demonstrate this on Wednesday," stated Mata, emphasizing the sense of belonging, identification, and solidarity in such a delicate situation.
The Mijas City Council invites all residents, collectives, and social entities of the municipality to join this institutional initiative. The Local Police of Mijas and other competent municipal services will be responsible for implementing the necessary organizational, security, and traffic regulation measures at each location.
The FEMP had previously called on Spain's 8,132 municipalities on August 25 to express their support for Ceuta on September 2, following a visit by its president, María José García-Pelayo, to the autonomous city, where she met with its president, Juan Jesús Vivas. Both highlighted the severity of the current situation for Spain.
