Malaga Teams Battle for Promotion and Survival in Tercera RFEF

The final stretch of the Tercera RFEF season is proving decisive for Malaga's football teams, with several clubs vying for promotion to Segunda RFEF and others struggling to avoid relegation, with only three matchdays remaining.

Group nine of the Tercera RFEF is experiencing moments of high tension as the season nears its conclusion. Five of the six teams from Malaga are in critical situations, with much at stake. CD El Palo has already confirmed its relegation, but the remaining provincial representatives have significant objectives, both at the top and bottom of the league table.
In the direct promotion race, Mijas Las Lagunas stands out as the main contender. They currently hold second place, just two points behind leaders Motril. With nine points still available and a favorable head-to-head record, the Mijas team has high hopes of securing the top spot, which guarantees promotion without needing play-off rounds. Their upcoming matches against Huétor Tájar, Huétor Vega, and Recreativo Granada will be crucial.
Meanwhile, Torre del Mar, although with remote mathematical chances for direct promotion, is in a strong position to secure a play-off spot. Fourth in the table, five points ahead of the first team outside the promotion zone, the team has shown great consistency, with only one defeat in their last fifteen matches. This Sunday, they will face Motril in a key game that could impact the top of the standings.
Another Malaga team aiming for the play-offs is Marbellí, which is just one point away from fifth place, currently held by Churriana de la Vega. Their upcoming matches will be vital, as two of their last three opponents are direct rivals in this battle: Huétor Vega and Torredonjimeno. San Pedro also maintains options, albeit more challenging ones, sitting eighth, six points from the promotion zone, with a pending match against Churriana de la Vega.
At the bottom of the table, CD Alhaurino is fighting for survival. With only a two-point cushion above the relegation zone, the team faces a demanding schedule, with matches against Churriana and Arenas de Armilla, and a direct confrontation on the final matchday against Mancha Real. In contrast, CD El Palo has already confirmed its relegation with several matchdays to spare, following a difficult season in which they only managed five victories.
