The works are focused on the section between the Mar y Monte and La Alquería roundabouts, an area that has drawn criticism from residents due to poor pedestrian safety, lack of pavements, and inadequate lighting.
With a budget exceeding 1.3 million euros, the project aims to transform one of the Costa del Sol's more hazardous road sections into a safer route for both motorists and pedestrians.
The necessity for these upgrades and traffic-calming measures was highlighted following a traffic accident on this stretch in September 2025.
Currently, the installation of the new pavement along the A-7175 is nearing completion. Following this, the works will proceed with installing upgraded street lighting, improving landscaping, and planting new trees alongside the road.
According to Estepona's city council, the works are already 75% complete.
