The Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training has announced an investment of 300,000 euros for the IES Los Manantiales in Torremolinos. The works include the installation of an elevator, the creation of a specific classroom, and the repair of various areas of the educational center.
The territorial delegate for Educational Development, Miguel Briones, accompanied by councilman Francisco García and the provincial manager of the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, Kader Miguel Djebbour, visited the facilities to detail the actions. The institute's director, Carlos Javaloyes, was also present.
The first phase, set to begin this June, will focus on eliminating architectural barriers by installing an elevator in one of the center's two four-story buildings. This intervention, aimed at facilitating access to laboratories, has an allocated budget of 146,803.50 euros. It is worth noting that another elevator was already installed in the second building in 2022 for nearly 90,000 euros, thus completing accessibility in both pavilions.
Additionally, a project is being drafted to adapt spaces for a specific classroom and an adapted restroom, with an estimated investment of 18,000 euros. These actions address specific needs raised by the educational community to make centers more accessible and safer.
Finally, based on the Building Technical Evaluation Report (ITE), repairs and improvements will be carried out on roofs, sanitation systems, enclosures, electrical installations, facades, and interior finishes. This project, currently in the design tendering phase, has a budget of 130,000 euros.
These actions respond to specific needs raised by the educational community and allow us to move towards centers that are more accessible, safe, and adapted to current educational demands.
