The municipality of Fuengirola is taking another step in its Municipal Parking Plan with the reorganization of parking at the Recinto Ferial (Fairgrounds). This initiative, carried out by the Road Intervention services, aims to create more than 700 vehicle spaces in this area, adding to the nearly 500 already implemented since the start of the term through new projects and reorganizations in various parts of the city.
The mayor, Ana Mula, has overseen the horizontal signage work and highlighted the importance of this measure within the council's mobility policies. "The Fairgrounds has always functioned as a large parking area, but it's true that it wasn't regulated or organized. We have reviewed how to make the most of it to create the maximum number of spaces possible, as we have already done in other parts of the city," she stated.
The project focuses on marking out parking spaces in all the asphalted areas where the fair attractions are usually set up, as well as along the edges of the central and side streets. A significant change will affect the central section of the fairground's booth area, which will become one-way traffic towards the Palacio de la Paz, allowing parking on both sides of the road.
With these adjustments, the projection is to reach 700 available parking spaces at the Fairgrounds. The mayor emphasized that upon completion of this intervention, nearly 1,200 parking spots will have been created in Fuengirola, combining new constructions and reorganizations like the current one.
Furthermore, the mayor recalled that the works for the first phase of the Montaña del Deporte (Sports Mountain) in the Los Pacos area will soon begin, which will provide an additional 56 parking spaces. Over 1,000 underground parking spaces are also planned for the new Santa Fe-Antonio Basilio stadium in Los Boliches, with its tender process currently in its final stages.
