During an event held on Wednesday at Plaza Virgen de la Peña in Mijas, the leader of a conservative political party attacked both the socialist government and the main center-right party, criticizing their approaches to combating drug trafficking.
The leader questioned a proposal from an opposition leader to equip Guardia Civil officers with “non-lethal means” to combat drug traffickers. He argued that this stance indicates a lack of resolve and that criminal groups, often “armed to the teeth,” might interpret such measures as a sign of weakness.
“"It worries me that Mr. Feijóo is not capable of moving beyond the discourse of political correctness."
These statements come days after the deaths of two Guardia Civil officers in operations linked to drug trafficking in Andalusia. The political leader also accused the Interior Minister of empty rhetoric and of failing to provide security forces with the necessary material and legal tools.
The visit to Mijas is part of his party's campaign efforts ahead of the regional elections, scheduled for next Sunday, May 17, with an emphasis on law and order and tougher anti-drug policies.
