The Mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, has underscored the "strong link" between the City Council and the city's educational community during the inauguration ceremony for the 2026/2027 academic year. The event, held at CEIP El Tejar, was attended by the territorial delegate for Educational Development, Miguel Briones, the Councilor for Education, Carmen Díaz, and representatives from the entire educational community, including principals, teachers, non-teaching staff, AMPAs, students, and families.
During her speech, the mayor highlighted the coordination among the various educational stakeholders and reaffirmed the municipal commitment to maintaining public centers. "AMPAs, teachers, principals, non-teaching staff, City Council… we form a great team working together to achieve a priority objective: that our children have the best conditions to take the first steps in their personal and academic development," stated Mula.
The mayor recalled that the City Council has allocated over €830,000 this summer for improvement and maintenance work in Fuengirola's public schools. These actions included upgrades to facilities, sports courts, and access points, as well as gardening, health control, and fire prevention tasks.
Among the most significant interventions are the installation of a roof at CEIP Valdelecrín (€443,362) and the renovation of the electrical system at CEIP Sohail (€173,119). These are complemented by initiatives from the Junta de Andalucía, such as the recovery of the dining hall at CEIP El Tejar after a fire and the expansion of IES Los Boliches.
Mula also emphasized the City Council's "fluid and constant" relationship with educational centers through regular meetings, which allows for effective and coordinated identification of needs and responses. "This is a clear example of the Fuengirola Management Model that I lead, enabling us year after year to improve the conditions in which our children spend their school years," she concluded.
The event also featured the participation of two students from CEIP El Tejar representing their classmates, and a performance by the school's rock band. The mayor encouraged students to enjoy their educational journey, learn, and seize all opportunities offered by their teachers and peers.
