Mayor Juan Luis Villalón met with Jesús Castaño, the plan's lead architect, to advance the processing of this document. The plan received initial approval in April 2024 and aims to protect heritage, adapt planning to current realities, and provide greater legal certainty for residents of the historic center.
In this new phase, the City Council will meet with officials from the Department of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía. Until now, the regional government has managed this area due to its designation as a Historic-Artistic Ensemble.
The ultimate goal is for the Department of Culture to delegate management responsibilities to municipal technicians. This will streamline the processing of numerous works and reduce waiting times, while ensuring the protection of one of Casares's most significant assets.
