During the Commemorative Conference for the International Day of Rural Women, organized by Afammer, Fuentes stated that the "great pending issue remains equality" and stressed the need for women to be actively involved not only in the economic and social activity but also in institutional decision-making. "We must make a great effort from our institutions," he remarked.
The provincial president referred to the cooperative sector as a "major economic and social engine for Córdoba and Andalusia." He pointed out that while women constitute around 28.5% of the cooperative's social base, their presence in governing bodies is reduced to approximately 10%, and only 4% in presidencies.
Fuentes emphasized that "we have magnificent professionals in rural areas whom we must make visible and to whom we must facilitate access to the spaces where decisions are made." He defended the importance of meetings and congresses to "transform reality," praising Afammer's work in advocating for women's roles.
He thanked Afammer for their work in the European Parliament, highlighting the need for a "modern and competitive vision of the rural world." "Being from the rural world cannot mean having fewer opportunities than living in an urban environment," he stated, arguing that prepared and entrepreneurial women are transforming the territory.
He concluded that the goal is to "make visible the talent and role of women" and that "real equality" requires everyone's commitment. "The future of the rural world necessarily depends on counting on them, recognizing their leadership, and ensuring their presence where the future of our towns is decided," he concluded.
