The Councilor for Equality, Ana M. Expósito, along with María Dolores Espinosa, local campaign coordinator, have presented the initiative which seeks to collect as many boxes as possible to send to children in countries such as Equatorial Guinea, Romania, and Ukraine. Since 1990, this project has sent over 111 million boxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to needy children in 130 countries.
Any individual, family, school, or company can participate in this project. The councilor highlighted the generosity of María Dolores Espinosa and her family, calling them an "example of generosity and solidarity".
Participating is simple: choose whether the box is for a boy or a girl, select an age, and fill it with school supplies, hygiene products, and a toy. María Dolores Espinosa emphasized the importance of "personalizing the box, including a letter or a photo," which brings great joy to the recipients. Donations are also accepted to cover logistical costs.
Boxes can be dropped off at the Municipal Youth Center, Joyería oro y plata, Multiprecios, or Modas Peter between November 23rd and 27th. It is recommended to include items such as pencils, notebooks, crayons, markers, underwear, a piece of clothing, toothbrushes, and toys, all new or in perfect condition.
