This prestigious competition, well-established in the flamenco world, has served as a springboard for numerous artists who now hold prominent positions in the art, contributing their personal touch to flamenco singing, guitar playing, and dancing, as highlighted by Gabriel Duque, the provincial institution's Culture delegate.
“"It is a prestigious competition, consolidated in the world of flamenco that, throughout its editions, has served as a springboard for numerous artists, who today occupy a prominent place in art, contributing their personal stamp in flamenco singing, playing, and dancing."
The competition stands out by offering winners not only a cash prize but also the opportunity to participate in a tour of ten performances across various municipalities in the province of Córdoba. Nine of these performances are for the winners and one for the finalists, representing a valuable opportunity for promotion and learning for young flamenco talents.
Categories include flamenco guitar, with the Vicente Amigo Award, for participants aged between 14 and 35; singing, with the Antonio Fernández 'Fosforito' Award, also for aspirants aged 14 to 35; and dancing, with the Blanca del Rey Award (for ages 14 to 18) and the Olga Pericet Award (for ages 19 to 35). Previous winners are not eligible to participate, and each person may only register in one category.
The cash prizes are 450 euros for the Antonio Fernández 'Fosforito' Award and the Vicente Amigo Award, while the Blanca del Rey and Olga Pericet Awards are endowed with 1,100 euros each. Additionally, each winner will receive a commemorative trophy.
The competition will proceed in two phases: an initial selection phase, taking place at the Patio Blanco of the Palacio de la Merced on June 4 and 5, and the final, which will be held in Cañete de las Torres (Córdoba) on June 27. A jury composed of prominent flamenco figures will evaluate the participants and select the winners.
The registration period, which began after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) on April 13, will remain open until May 5. For more details, interested parties can consult the official culture website of the Diputación de Córdoba.
